Physical exercise: Along with the physical benefits of exercise like weight loss and muscle growth, exercise is beneficial to your mental health. Exercising releases ‘feel good’ endorphins and serotonin that helps improve your mood. Some easy-do exercises could be going for a swim, running, a light jog or even just walking, as long as you are getting your body moving.
Diet: Healthy eating includes cutting back or avoiding certain foods like processed meats, fried foods, candies, pastries, and other high-fat foods. These give a temporary fullness with no real nutritional values. Instead, opt in for higher protein foods such as chicken, fish, eggs, soybeans, nuts and seeds. Proteins contain amino acids which the brain needs in order to create neurotransmitter responsible for regulating your thoughts and emotions. GLP medications: GLP-1 medications are used for controlling diabetes and have been linked to also aid in weight loss. Medications include Ozempic, Wegovy and Mounjaro. Not only do they help with weightloss and A1C levels but studies have proven that some also benefit parts of the brain that are responsible for mood regulation, which overall enhances neuronal function - which is a benefit to mental health.
